WIR-V1.3 | Production of goods from recycled fibres
Runtime 2023-11-01 bis 2025-10-31Significance for the region “Elbtal Sachsen”
WIR-V1.3 is committed to the substitution of fibres, whereby fibre-containing composite materials are based on recyclates rather than new fibres. The development of market-relevant products simultaneously guarantees the uptake of recycled fibres. Potential products include rod-shaped and planar semi-finished products made from staple fibres, which are processed using a matrix system into components for the aerospace, special machinery, and construction sectors. WIR-V1.3 thus makes an essential contribution to the real-world application of recycled fibres on the market, with a focus on the region “Elbtal Sachsen”.
Results to date
- Production of straight rod-shaped reinforcements and reinforcement meshes, as well as the forming of rod-shaped reinforcements into stirrups and shaped parts based on recycled fibres
- Production of mat-shaped reinforcements from recycled fibres, manufactured as 2D mats and 3D lattice girders
- Optimisation of textile processes (direct yarn placement) with regard to the potential for robust manufacturing through synchronised processes (pending)
- Production of demonstrators as planar semi-finished products from recycled staple fibres with a recycled fibre content of at least 50% (pending)
- Production of a demonstrator as a carbon concrete wall component with reinforcement made from recycled fibres (pending)
