WIR-V1.4 | Separation of fibre reinforcement from building materials using the electro-pulse process
Runtime 2023-08-01 bis 2025-07-31Significance for the region “Elbtal Sachsen”
WIR-1.4 utilises the electro-pulse process to achieve effective material separation of textile reinforcements from building materials. This involves developing the energy and resource efficiency, economic feasibility assessment, as well as the scaling of the process and its integration into existing plant technologies. WIR-V1.4 thus makes an essential contribution to reducing the effort required for fibre processing, significantly improving fibre quality, and closing a concrete gap in the current recycling and processing technology in the region “Elbtal Sachsen”.
Results to date
- Modelling of a technical system to completely separate particularly adherent fibre-containing reinforcements from concrete components in batch operation using the electro-pulse process
- Demonstration of market-suitable performance, as an industrial throughput of 100 kg/h has been achieved (increase to 500 kg/h is pending)
- Demonstration of market-suitable functionality, as the technical system can be integrated into existing plants and separation systems, taking economic aspects into account (pending)
- Recommendation for further development of the technical system when increasing the Technology Readiness Level from TRL 6 to TRL 9 (pending)
- Commissioning of the pilot plant, including demonstration at the Dresden University of Technology | Chair of Construction Machinery
