WIR-V1.5 | Recycling of multi-material components for the regional reuse of building materials using the example of carbon concrete
Runtime finishedSignificance for the region “Elbtal Sachsen”
WIR-1.5 implements the complete reintegration of individual materials in carbon concrete by utilizing both concrete with up to 60% recycled concrete aggregate and reinforcement made from recycled fibres for the development of new products. This cross-industry approach is necessary to manufacture products sustainably. WIR-V1.5 thus makes an essential contribution to the practical application of recycled fibres for market-relevant products, leveraging existing synergies in carbon concrete construction within the region “Elbtal Sachsen” and establishing new synergies with other industries.
Results to date
- Requirements profile for resource- and cost-efficient use of materials for recycled mat-shaped reinforcements, aggregates, and composite components made from carbon concrete using secondary raw materials
- Specification sheet detailing the requirements for R-yarns and R-reinforcement, as well as for recycled aggregates, taking into account current standards, guidelines, and testing procedures
- Production of mat-shaped reinforcement from recycled continuous carbon fibres, including adaptation of the technical system for manufacturing via direct yarn placement
- Production of R-concrete with up to 60% recycled concrete aggregate, achieving properties comparable to conventional concrete
- Production of components made from R-concrete and non-metallic reinforcement from recycled carbon fibres, as well as optimization of the corresponding process chains (pending)
